Grievance Redressal

STUDENT GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL SYSTEM

Integral University has established an efficient mechanism for its students to share their grievances. Different committees have been formed to probe into the student grievances. These committees attempt to address genuine problems and complaints of students whatever are the nature of the problem. All complaints are scrutinized by the committees. Conveners of the committees regularly attend to these on regular basis. All the issues/complaints are treated with due confidentiality. There is an exclusive mechanism to address the issues relating to women and their grievances through Women Grievance Cell (Internal complaints Committee) that has been in compliance to the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the case of Vishaka & others versus the State of Rajasthan and others (SCC 606 1997).

Objectives:

  1. To create a platform where students can point out their problems, regarding academic and nonacademic matters.
  2. To help students to record their complaints and solve their problems freely and frankly without any fear of victimization.
  3. To support, those students who have been deprived of the services offered by the university, for which he / she is entitled.
  4. To ensure effective solution to the student grievances with an impartial and fair approach.

Procedure for Redressal of Grievances

  1. An aggrieved stakeholder who has a grievance can lodge complaint online (at website) or offline with concerned authority. Authority will inquire by way of fact finding and will try to redress the grievance within a reasonable time, preferably within a week and communicate the decision to the aggrieved person and all concerned. It will also submit a detailed report to grievance redressal cell through its head.
  2. If the stakeholder is not satisfied with the decision of the concerned authority/committee, he/she can submit an appeal to the grievance redressal committee within a week from the date of the receipt of the decision.
  3. Grievance redressal committee, after verifying the facts and reports, shall pass appropriate order in the best possible manner within a reasonable time, preferably within 10 days of receipt of application.
  4. If stakeholder is not satisfied with the decision, he/she can submit a review appeal to the head of institution within 7 days of receipt of decision of appeal.
  5. Grievance Redressal Committee, if needed, may recommend to the head of institution, necessary corrective action as it may deem fit, to avoid recurrence of similar grievance.
  6. While dealing with the complaint the committee/ authorities at all levels will observe law of natural justice and hear the complainant and concerned people. While passing a decision at any level the relevant provisions of Act/Regulations/ rules should be kept in mind to avoid contradiction of the same.

Best Practices:

Students' grievances are classified in two categories, with separate redressal mechanism for each category of grievance:

a) Academic grievances: Related to studies, evaluation, attendance, examinations, projects and reports, thesis etc. An academic grievance shall be first raised with the Departmental Head, for the UG or PG or PhD program, as the case may be. If the grievance is not redressed by the departmental head in the stipulated time-frame, or if the same is beyond the scope of the departmental head, the grievance may be escalated to the respective Dean of the Faculty. The Dean may redress the grievance in consultation with the Dean, Students’ Welfare (DSW). Pro Vice-Chancellor will be the highest authority for decisions on redressal of an academic grievance, and shall be approached as the last resort.

b) Non-Academic grievances: Related to Placement, Sports, Hostels, IT help desk, Transportation, I card, Canteen, Medical facilities, Accounts (fee related), Scholarships, Fellowships, Harassment-based complaints etc. For redressal of each type of grievance, the concerned redressal officers, along with their contact details are mentioned below. The Dean of Students' Welfare is the highest authority for decisions on redressal of a non-academic grievance, and shall be approached as the last resort.

  • The university is deeply committed to providing an atmosphere conducive for building the confidence and self-esteem of all students. It takes pride in being a friendly campus where students freely interact and learn from each other in pursuit of excellence. The anti-ragging committee of the college functions on the precept of zero tolerance to ragging.
  • The University has a well structured proctorial board and women grievance cell who looks after the issues related to discipline and women grievances.
  • A special COVID-19 Grievance Task Force/Redressal Cell has been formulated in the year 2020 to look after the student grievances in the dark times of COVID-19 under the mentorship of Dean, Students’ Welfare.
